About the Tool
ShipStation is the shipping management layer that sits between your Shopify store and your carrier accounts. It pulls orders from Shopify and other sales channels, applies automation rules to select the right carrier and service level per order, prints labels in batch, and syncs tracking numbers back to each channel. For brands shipping from their own warehouse or a mix of locations, it eliminates the manual process of logging into each carrier account to create labels. The rate shopping feature compares prices across USPS, UPS, FedEx, and DHL in real time, which often saves a meaningful percentage on postage for domestic shipments. ShipStation works well for brands shipping between 50 and 10,000 orders per month from their own fulfilment. Brands that outsource fulfilment to a 3PL typically let the 3PL handle shipping directly.
